Council to hold special session October 26

THE Bacolod City Council will hold a special session Saturday, October 26, to ratify the financial assistance for the three barangays that will join in Electric MassKara dance parade and Masskara street dance competition in the city.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said Friday, October 25, that the City has already released the assistance to some of the participants of the Electric MassKara dance parade and Masskara street dance competition, except on the three barangays.

These are Barangays 6 and Banago that will join in Electric MassKara dance parade and MassKara street dance competition, as well as Barangay 6 that will join in MassKara street dance competition.

Familiaran said each participant in MassKara street dance competition will receive P250,000 cash assistance and those who will participate in Electric MassKara will also receive P100,000 cash assistance.

"The ratification of the financial assistance should be done before the actual event," he said.

He added that on Wednesday, October 23, the City Council approved the request of Mayor Evelio Leonardia to sign the proposed memoranda of agreement to be entered by and between the City of Bacolod and Barangays 3, 6 and Banago.

Familiaran noted that in the school category, each school participant will also receive P200,000 cash assistance.

Of 61 barangays, 14 barangays will join the MassKara street, arena dance competition, which will be held on October 27.

These are Barangays Tangub, Handumanan, Banago, Bata, Estefania, 3, 4, 5, 6, 12, 16, 32, 39, and 40.

For the Electric MassKara performing floats competition, 14 barangays also competed on October 25. These were Barangays Cabug, Banago, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 16, 32, 36, 37, 40, and 45.

More than five schools in Bacolod will also compete in MassKara street, arena dance competition at the Bacolod public plaza today.
