‘Beautiful Justice’ portrays women empowerment

WOMEN are stereotyped being weak, powerless and helpless. GMA Telebabad seeks to break the stigma in its new action-packed series “Beautiful Justice.” The series is headlined by three of Kapuso Network’s sought-after female stars: Bea Binene, Gabbi Garcia and Yasmien Kurdi.

In preparation for the series, the cast underwent Krav Maga training, extensive gun training, and training on handling other weapons.

In an interview with the Cebu press, Garcia said her role brings a whole new experience. She also likes how the show portrays women empowerment.

“It’s also time for us to bring [women empowerment] on national TV. Especially to places where there is no internet or social media. We could also tell the story to them and let them know our message. It’s about time that actresses could play something for women viewers to know that they don’t need someone to fight for them but they can also fight for themselves,” the actress said.

As for Kurdi, her role has been a game-changer. She feels like she’s out of her comfort zone, shifting from her usual roles in heavy drama to action. The actress also encourages Kapuso fans to stay tuned as the series gets more exciting.

“The story is getting deeper and it’s becoming more intense with the girls now going into action. We will be reaching that level,” Kurdi said.

The cast of the series treated their Kapuso fans to a mall show last Oct. 19 at SM City Consolacion.

“Beautiful Justice” premiered on Sept. 9.
