2 pushers nabbed in Benguet

TWO drug personalities were arrested with almost P300,000 worth of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride confiscated during an anti-drugs operation as a part of the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) in Benguet on October 23.

The suspects were identified as Ibalson Cadangen and Anelyn Esteban Ngayawen who were arrested in Shilan, La Trinidad, Benguet.

The two were caught after selling shabu to one of the operatives who acted as a poseur-buyer during the buy-bust operation.

Confiscated in their possession were 43.7 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P297,160.

The operation was conducted by operatives of La Trinidad police, Intelligence personnel of Benguet Provincial Police Office (BPPO), Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Regional Investigation Division (RID), Regional Intelligence Unit-Cordillera (RIU-14), and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Benguet.

Both suspects are now under the custody of the concerned operating units and will face charges filed against them in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Following the arrest of the two, Police Regional Office Cordillera director Police Brigadier General Israel Ephraim Dickson reminded all his men to strictly adhere to the rules of engagement and to be instrumental in the pursuit of sustained peace and drugs-free environment.
