Tell It to SunStar: Failure

By Chito E. Germino, Mandaue City

SHOW me a man who died of hazing and I will show you a man who was so proud of himself that he thought he was invincible.

No matter how harsh the Anti-Hazing Law is, deaths in hazing will continue to occur. It will just quit for some time, but after it has been forgotten, another reminder will occur.

“Pride comes before a fall.” Pride is always the root cause of deaths in hazing.

While dazed, bruised and numbed with pain, the victim can never stop saying “More! More! More beating!”

As long as there is a proud man who thinks he is strong enough to withstand the brutality, death in hazing will continue to occur.

The proud victim was so numb that he was not aware he was about to die. He kept on demanding for more beating. Until he blacked out to eventually die.
