CAGAYAN DE ORO

Experience convergence

FOR 24 years, SunStar Cagayan de Oro (CDO) has been at the forefront in informing the public of the latest issues, successes and struggles of not just the city but of whole Northern Mindanao.

A source of information every Kagay-anon and those within the region can rely on, SunStar CDO takes its pride on telling stories that are relevant, accurate and verified amidst the emergence of fake news in the current era of digitalization.

In the process of adaptation, SunStar CDO doesn't limit its transformation and evolution to digitalization by mere posting information in social media and creating more content in fewer words.

Passing the test of time, SunStar CDO has moved forward to innovation, leading the community it serve EXPERIENCE CONVERGENCE.

This new experience will also guide readers and advertisers through its "compact with an impact" look.

The new SunStar Cagayan de Oro paper is now handy and more versatile, bringing a modern, sophisticated and visually appealing design that targets a broader audience by having shorter stories supported by larger photos and infographics.

This development will also offer advertisers a wide new range of advertising options.

"It will appeal more to the millenials because much of its content will now offer some degree of interactivity," SunStar Media Group President Julius G. Neri Jr. said.

"SunStar's compact looks has a design DNA of complex grid and elegant typography. And I also want to showcase that good design is very much utilitarian. Design that champions content. Design that caters to two types of consumers: the readers and the scanners," Adonis Durado, SunStar's design consultant, for his part, said.

Sunstar CDO's editor-in-chief (OIC) Alwen Saliring said the new design is both a transformation and expansion, without forgetting the basics and principles of journalism.

"We can never be stagnant. We have to innovate and transform to cope up with the new trends in providing news and information to the community we serve,"Saliring said.

SunStar CDO also offers a refreshing look of its social media with the official launch of the SunStar NewsBits Tonight, a 3-minute video featuring the latest news in Cagayan de Oro.

A new look but still the same passion to serve the public as a trustworthy news and information provider.
