Bomb threat jolts Ateneo, but classes go on

THE Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) on Monday, October 28, confirmed having received bomb threats through social media.

Classes and work, however, were not cancelled as no bomb was found during “thorough sweeps” of the campus Sunday night, October 27, and early Monday morning.

In its Facebook post, the AdMu said the administration immediately coordinated with the authorities after receiving the anonymous bomb threat last night.

“We are handling the situation using our security protocols. We ask our students, employees and other stakeholders to stay calm and alert. Be assured that our security protocols are in place,” it said in the post.

“The University Campus Safety and Mobility Office, in coordination with the PNP QCPD conducted thorough sweeps of the campus last night and early this morning and found no irregularity. Be assured that we continue to strictly implement our security protocol under current circumstances. Please remain calm and alert, cooperate and report anything suspicious to any of our security personnel stationed all around the campus. We shall issue updates, as needed,” it added.

The Sanggunian ng mga Paaralang Loyola ng Ateneo de Manila also assured that the police and school administration are on top of the situation.

"Rest assured, the University has protocols to ensure the safety of the community in situations like this. Security has been heightened and stringent protocols are in place starting early this evening," it said.

"Please stay calm and mindful in processing information in situations like this," the council added.
