NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) acting director Brigadier General Debold Sinas said on Monday, October 28, that he is ready to comply if ordered to step down over his alleged “anti-media policies.”
“Pag sinabi ng OIC na because of that tanggalin ako, sabihin ko sa inyo isang oras turnover na kaagad. Wala akong problema doon,” Sinas said in an interview with reporters.
(If Philippine National Police officer-in-charge Lieutenant General Archie Gamboa would remove me, I will turn over my post in an hour. I have no problem stepping down.)
Earlier Monday, Gamboa said he will discuss with Sinas his “policies”, which have been described as anti-media.
After he took office in mid-October, Sinas issued guidelines for the media.
He also asked the NCRPO press club to vacate their office at the 2nd floor of the Quezon City Police District Police Station 10 in Kamuning as it will be used as the NCRPO satellite office.
“Hindi ko sila pinaalis. Kinuha ko lang ‘yung para sa amin (I did not drive them away. I'm just taking what's ours),” he said.
“Tinanong ko sila, matino ‘yung usapan namin na kung wala kayong papel na sa inyo ‘to, gagamitin talaga namin. Wala akong pakialam diyan kung magalit sila sa akin. I talked to them properly,” he added.
(I asked them properly. If they don't have the papers to prove ownership of the office, we will use it. I don't care if they get mad.)
However, Sinas clarified that he planned to establish a new NCRPO press club office in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.
Among the guidelines he issued to the media are: no interviews by telephone, no ambush interviews, no calls or text at night and on Sundays, which is his family day.
Sinas also said the media should interview spokespersons or the police officials concerned and avoid asking him. (SunStar Philippines)
