Duterte still feeling back pain, but recovering

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte is recovering from his recent minor motorcycle accident as he is feeling only “one-fourth” of the pain in his lower back, Malacañang said on Monday, October 28.

The President, 74, later confirmed that the pain is more tolerable as he is able to walk straight in public.

Duterte consulted a neurologist on October 23, less than 24 hours after cutting short his Japan trip because of the pain, which he had described then as unbearable.

Duterte was diagnosed with “muscle spasms,” and was advised to limit his physical activities and take some pain relievers.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the President has assured that he is feeling better now, less than a week after undergoing a medical check-up.

“By the way, the President mentioned something about his health because I asked him directly, ‘How's your pain Mr. President?’ If I'm not mistaken, his response was, ‘The pain is only one-fourth. Now, the three-fourth [of pain is] gone,” Panelo told Palace reporters.

“In other words, there was a considerable easing of pain,” he added.

Panelo said the 74-year-old President is still taking pain relievers, but can now use the treadmill.

“Nag-treadmill daw siya kahapon (He allegedly used treadmill yesterday),” he said. (NASE/SunStar Philippines)
