FOUR ambulance units were turned over Monday, October 28, to the Zamboanga City Health Office (CHO) as part of Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar's priority thrust on health under the Security, Health and Education (SHE) program.
Four other similar emergency transport vehicles intended for lying-in clinics in villages are expected to be delivered and turned over to the CHO in the coming months.
The turnover was held after the flag raising ceremony at City Hall Monday, October 28. It was spearheaded by City Caretaker Eric Elias and City Administrator Marie Angelique Go.
Dr. Dulce Amore Miravite said the new ambulances will help realize the mission of her office to develop healthy communities and strong health system.
Miravite expressed elation that the new ambulances will provide adequate, quality and timely emergency transport services to patients in the villages.
Zamboanga City, which comprises 98 villages, has at least 16 lying-in clinics, two of which have existing ambulances.
With the four units of L-200 ambulance turned over Monday and the additional four to be delivered in the coming days, six more will be purchased by the City to suffice the needs of all the lying-in facilities, said Miravite. (SunStar Zamboanga)
