DOE warns bizmen selling butane canisters

IN A bid to stop the use of butane canisters filled with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Department of Energy (DOE) Undersecretary Felix William Fuentebella yesterday said they are promoting the use of their 2 to 3 kilograms LPG tank.

"Meron po tayong 2-3 kilos na kasing laki ng helmet na tangke," Fuentebella said.

As a "legal alternative" of the illegal butane canisters, Fuentebella said the LPG tank, which costs almost P100, should be used outside the house to avoid incidents.

The DOE undersecretary also said they are targeting the businessmen who sell butane canisters filled with LPG.

"It’s not a safe way of cooking na nilalagay mo yung LPG, nire-refill sa canister. Yung negosyante na nagbebenta nito, yun po yung hinahabol namin kasi nagbebentasya ng bomba," Fuentebella said.

He added that businessmen who sells illegal canisters filled with LPG will be arrested and charged with criminal cases.
