Over 400 new cops to be deployed for weekend holiday

SOME 453 new police corporals who recently graduated from the six-month Public Safety Field Training Program of the Police Regional Office – Cordillera (PRO - COR) will be fielded in various areas in the region during the observance of All Saints’ and Souls’ Days on November 1 and 2.

During the graduation exercises at PRO - Cor in Camp Bado Dangwa, in La Trinidad, Benguet, PRO - Cor Director Israel Ephraim Dickson said after their graduation, their first official deployment will be during the nationwide observance of Undas.

“Definitely, their graduation is very timely. We will be observing the All Saints Day and All Souls Day and as what we have been experiencing in the past, there would be lots of visitors during this time going to the different cemeteries in the region aside from those who would take this time for a vacation especially in the city. And these graduates will be deployed to help in the maintenance of peace and order in the region,” Dickson said.

Aside from the deployment of the new personnel, policemen will be deployed in various areas of convergence of people.

“Definitely we will be deploying and beefing up personnel’s in areas of convergence of people like bus stations and terminals, churches, malls and tourist destination wherein they will be assigned to maintain peace and order and to avoid possible occurrence of un-orderly activities in their areas of deployment,” Dickson stated.

PRO - Cor also beefed up its traffic and security measures in the region for Undas and advised residents and tourists to be aware of their surroundings and to go to the nearest police station or personnel for assistance.

“We want to remind all the tourists who will be visiting the Cordillera region to initially ensure their residence are taken cared off prior to leaving, check themselves and their belongings before leaving, and upon reaching your destination here in the region to be aware of your surroundings and when in doubt, approach the nearest police station or personnel who would be assisting you,” Dickson added.
