Senator urges Mindanao residents to unite amid quake

SENATOR Christopher "Bong" Go has urged residents in Mindanao to unite amid the magnitude 6.6 earthquake that struck the region Tuesday morning, October 29, 2019.

Go, who was in Boracay Island, said he received several calls from Mindanao residents who were asking for help.

He was in Boracay Tuesday, as he visited the fire victims at the Barangay Manocmanoc Gym. The fire incident happened in Sitio Ambulong Manoc Manoc last week.

"I also urged residents to avoid spreading of fake news to prevent further harm. Let us all be united and be calm and safe," said Go.

Go is from Davao City.

As of Tuesday afternoon, October 29, government agencies have been conducting assessments in the different parts of Mindanao following the magnitude 6.6 earthquake that struck the region at 9:04 a.m.

The quake's epicenter was located 25 kilometers southeast of Tulunan, Cotabato. Damage to properties have been reported.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has warned of aftershocks. (SunStar Philippines)
