FOUND in the northern town of Lilo-an, Cebu is a boutique hotel said to be the only beachfront hotel in the municipality, built with the promise of treating its guests with that true northern hospitality.

Rosario Boutique Hotel had its grand opening last September. Owned by the Cañete family, founders Tiffany Cañete, who manages front of house, together with her husband and executive chef John “Chow” Cañete, moved to Cebu from Hong Kong in 2017. They not only aimed to join the family in the re-branding of its restaurant—Sugba Sugba sa Parola turned into casual restaurant Faro—but also to provide locals an incredible dining experience that they themselves experienced in Hong Kong, filled with culinary finds.

Going a step further was the making of the hotel.

The hotel, from its name and aesthetic, pays tribute to captain Cesar B. Cañete, Rosario Ramas Cañete, M.D. and professor Reuben Ramas Cañete. Spruced up in contemporary fashion with calming tones, some elements of the hotel are re-purposed from their family home in Lahug, from the wood hand railings on the stairs to its doors and chandeliers. Rosario Boutique Hotel offers room types such as the standard room, deluxe, premiere suite and executive suite. These come with black-out combi window blinds, Netflix-ready television and complimentary Wi-Fi. In addition, guests can bask in the picturesque view of Lilo-an and Mactan Channel as they relax. Pretty soon, guests can look forward to its family rooms and presidential suite.

Completing the experience are its dining outlets. There’s the Cañete Cafe that serves Filipino and Asian delights. This is where guests can enjoy the breakfast buffet as well. There’s also Faro, located on the fifth floor, that serves wood fired pizza, pasta and other grilled favorites. It features an outdoor lounge and indoor live music stage.

The hotel also accommodates private events at its Rosario Function Hall which can accommodate up to 120 guests. For a smaller crowd, there’s the Business Center: Prof. Reuben Ramas Cañete Library-Museum. It can cater to 20 people. The professor was a PhD, scholar and artist—to name a few achievements—and this serves as a tribute to him and his works. Guests can hang out here to study and get the chance to appreciate his works.

The Rosario Boutique Hotel is located on No. 540 National North Road Poblacion Lilo-an, Cebu.
