Uy: Displaced families notified before road clearing ops

CAGAYAN de Oro City Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin Uy told residents who were displaced by a clearing operation in Gumamela Extension, Barangay Carmen to stop the hate and instead be thankful for a having a free shelter of more than 30 years.

Uy was reacting to the residents' sentiments that they were disappointed of Representative Rolando Uy and his family for abandoning and blindsiding them of the clearing operation last week, leaving them homeless.

"That was not our order, the order came from the President himself plus the DILG (Department of Interior and Local Government) nga kanunay pud ta gi-monitor," Uy said.

Uy said even their home in the same street was destroyed by the clearing team for obstructing the sidewalk.

He also disclosed that the barangay had already sent notices to the residents back when he was still an employee of the barangay.

"No one is above the law, sige lang na sila gipahangyo hangtod malimtan. Pero karon order naman gyud sa Presidente so unta mosabot sila ug unta sa kadugayon nila nga nagpuyo diha, mapasalamaton nalang sila dili kay mag-blame bisan kinsa," Uy said.

Uy also hit Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano and referred to him as a “pontius pilate.”

After the demolition, Emano sent food packs to the displaced residents and called out the city government for their neglect.

"Naa pay uban mutunga uban murag si Poncious Pilato nga murag unsa na gyud ta kadaotan. Pero kung atong tan-awon para man gyud na sa kaangayan sa tanan pero sakyan pa gyud, himuon pa gyud nga pamulitika nga nagpatuman raman ta sa balaod," he said.

"Ako, kung asa ang kaayohan sa tanan, adto pud ako," Uy added.
