THE Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental has turned over 4,000 tonner bags and equipment, which will be used for the re-exportation of South Korean garbage, to the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in Northern Mindanao, Tuesday, October 29.

Provincial Board Member Gerardo Sabal said the capitol allocated a total of P600,000 for the 4,000 tonner bags.

He said the capitol has also allotted more than P1 million for the equipment, including the fuel and labor used to repack the imported trash.

"More or less ang Provincial Government is going to spend around P1.3 to P1.4 million for this, depending upon the number of days sa paggamit sa heavy equipment," Sabal said.

The inter-agency task force has an initial of 1,000 tonner bags and an additional of 4,000 bags are needed to repack the 5,000 tons of garbage from South Korea.

John Simon, Customs collector of the Mindanao International Container Terminal (MICT), said they are targeting the whole month of November to finish bagging the garbage.

The garbage will be shipped back to South Korea via a vessel provided by the South Korea government.

"Realistically, we are giving ourselves the whole month of November to put it all in the bags, for the bags to be placed in the containers, and for the containers to be placed sa yarda kung saan nakahelera na sila ready to be picked up by the vessel," Simon said.

"Pagnakahelera na, marami-rami na, pwede na yang palayasin patungo sa ibang bansa," he added.

He also assured that at present, all the needed equipment for the re-exportation of the Korean garbage is complete.
