700 HPG to be fielded for All Saints' Day

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) Highway Patrol Group (HPG) will field nearly 700 personnel on the roads leading to and from the cemeteries as well as in transportation terminals to assist in traffic management during the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days exodus.

HPG acting director Dionardo Carlos said a total of 695 personnel will be deployed for Undas duty, as follows, 360 in cemeteries, 260 in bus terminals, 26 in train stations, 34 in seaports and 15 in airports.

"Preparation natin, 'yung ating highway patrol, we have regional highway patrol units in all regions so we are supporting the regional police office," Carlos said in a press briefing in Camp Crame on Wednesday, October 30, 2019.

"We are deploying them to provide motorist assistance in the national highways. On the effort naman natin sa national, we will be deploying our available personnel to look at the flow of exodus of the public from Metro Manila going to provinces," he added.

He reminded all travelers to take safety measures and prepare themselves and their vehicles, particularly for long trips.

"Based on data kasi, kadamihan ng nangyayaring aksidente is based on human factor so a big percentage of that is maling diskarte ng nagmamaneho. So ang ano doon, iprepare nila 'yung sarili nila sa mahabang biyahe," Carlos said.

"'Yung mga driver naman po ng mga pampublikong sasakyan, siguraduhin na maayos ang pangangatawan para maging ligtas 'yung paglalakbay ng manlalakbay," he added.

He reminded motorists to check BLOWBAGETS, or battery, light, oil, water, brakes, air, gas, engine, tires, and self, before leaving the house. (SunStar Philippines)
