BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio "Bing" Leonardia is proven to be a person who makes things happen for Bacolod City, citing the many accolades received by the City Government of Bacolod, which is currently labeled as the "City of Champions" topped by the recently concluded Ruby edition of the MassKara Festival that thrilled the local and foreign tourists with the colorful merrymaking, street parties, the drink till you drop experiences, food trips, the long grilling of the famous chicken inasal, the availability of the palatable local delicacies, the attractions brought by the prestigious MassKara queen pageant, the increase in sales, foot traffic in malls, hotels, restaurants, and beer hubs, among others.

The festival that went on from October 7-27, 2019.

Dignitaries and visitors from the government and private sectors here and abroad swarmed the Festival City of Bacolod to party with Bacolodnons and Negrenses who are mostly natural lovers of good and pleasurable times.

Beer consumption considerably rises with the presence of food kiosks, merriment, and street parties.

Bacolodnons know how to party when there are beer, sounds, food and a good company of friends and family. The fireworks, carnival rides and other escapades related to the festival added to the festive condition in Bacolod City.

Leonardia maintained his natural charm in facing the many challenges of putting up a high caliber Ruby or the 40th MassKara festival with its indomitable popularity that catches the attention of the world.

Helping the mayor ensure the success of the festival are his fellow city officials. But Eli Francis Tajanlangit, the festival director, held the baton to command his team of competent people in the execution of the blueprints and strategies of the 20-day festival.

Leonardia said that despite the rain, the show went on. He was positive and quite sentimental to say that, "we made it through the rain."

He added, "Never mind the bad weather as long as we are together."

He was grateful to the artists, dancers and everyone who contributed to the success of the MassKara festival.

"Without everyone contributing their talents, efforts, ideas, we can never attain our goal of making this event a successful one. I want to recommend to the city to recognize the efforts of our artists, MassKara dancers, and choreographers who helped us reap the success of our collective hard work," he said.

Leonardia started to put his heart to the MassKara festival when he was still a tourism official of the city until he evolved in politics.

The ups and downs of handling the festival was already in his system.

He, in fact, named their only daughter as Kara Leonardia, a testament of how he highly regarded the MassKara festival.

He expressed his tremendous gratitude to everyone who joined them in making the MassKara festival, a festival like no other.
