Half-day work in government offices today

CLIENTS of the Cebu Provincial Government are advised to come early to the Capitol as work will be suspended from 12 noon onward on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea issued Memorandum Circular 69 on Wednesday, Oct. 30, declaring half-day work today to allow government employees to prepare for the observance of All Saints’ Day.

Government employees whose dead loved ones were buried in their hometowns do not have to join the long queue in bus terminals.

However, the memorandum ordered government agencies involved in the delivery of basic health services, disaster preparedness and response and other important services to “continue with their operations and render the necessary services.”

At the Capitol, Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said offices that perform vital services will remain on standby and will continue their operations.

“We will follow accordingly also to give time for our employees to go home to their hometowns. The PDRRMO (Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office) will have to stay on, of course,” Garcia said.

The governor said she will work the whole day on Thursday. She will lead the inspection of the Cebu South Bus Terminal on the same day. (RTF, WBS)
