Investment scam exec arrested in Taguig

AUTHORITIES confirmed on Thursday, October 31, the arrest of the chief executive officer (CEO) of Rigen Marketing during an entrapment operation in Taguig City.

Paul Luzana Auditor, Rigen CEO, was arrested along with his live-in partner identified as Cherry Lou Varron during an entrapment operation around 4:30 a.m. in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig on Tuesday, October 31, according to Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Anti-Transnational Crime Unit (ATCU) chief Colonel Cesar Paday-os.

Paday-os said they will be filing charges of robbery extortion against the arrested suspects.

A complaint for syndicated estafa will also be filed after the CIDG finishes consolidating all the complaints.

“Robbery extortion ang ipa-file natin na kaso and then to follow nalang syndicated estafa niya,” Paday-os said.

He said only one complaint was filed against Auditor, but other complainants surfaced after his arrest.

“Iisa lang ang (complainant kaya nagkasa tayo ng) entrapment operation. We don’t know yet na ganito pala ang magiging effect nito (maraming susunod na complainant),” he said.

Paday-os said the operation stemmed from the complaint of a certain John Fritz Almencio, who said that he invested P4.8 million in Rigen Marketing through Auditor sometime in June.

He was promised a 400 percent profit monthly.

Almencio said that when he failed to get his monthly profit, he asked Auditor to return his investment.

Auditor, however, asked him for an additional P200,000 or his previous capital would be forfeited.

“Napaka-ganda nitong breakthrough kasi nga siya (Almencio) na rin ang nagpupursigi siya na mismo nagco-conduct ng sarili niyang investigation para i-locate itong si (Auditor),” said Paday-os.

“It was Rigen nga na sinabi niya (Auditor) pero meron na naman daw siyang pinuput-up na ibang company, na dito daw i-establish sa Manila, which is subject now of our inquiry to follow up verification to Securities and Exchange Commission,” he added.

Some of the complainants from Davao flew to Manila to file complaints against Auditor in relation to the investment scam.

Paday-os said they will study the complaints which probably should be endorsed to their Davao office for filing in court.

In a chance interview, Auditor merely said, “Hanapin si Rico Garcia.”

Garcia, according to Auditor, was the one who sold him Rigen and turned over to him only P2 billion.

Paday-os said they will also conduct an investigation against Garcia. (SunStar Philippines)
