Guagua mayor mulls Minalin-San Fernando route

GUAGUA Mayor Dante Torres said they are in the process of working for the establishment of a Minalin to City of San Fernando route that will pass by this town's megadike area.

Torres said the plan aims to interconnect Guagua town with the fourth district after the recent completion of the Minalin-Guagua bridge. In the past, travel from Minalin to Guagua took some 45 minutes on public commute or some 30 minutes on a private vehicle.

With the opening of the said bridge, people from both towns can travel to the center of both towns in less than 10 minutes. The opening of the bridge also provides an opportunity for Minalin and other fourth district residents to access Guagua's public market, the biggest in Pampanga.

Torres said that since the opening of the bridge, residents of Minalin have been doing their grocery shopping in Guagua town. But the mayor said that access to both towns is still limited to private vehicles.

"We need some means of public travel that will make access to both towns more seamless," Torres said, adding that both towns can benefit commercially from the establishment of a commuter route in the area.

Torres said several students from Minalin also study at the nearby Don Honorio Ventura State University and will benefit from the creation of a route that will make their commute to school more efficient.

Torres said they are now working with their counterparts in Minalin town for the project.

Torres said the establishment of a commuter route will also usher in development in the said areas that the route will traverse.
