Scholarship grant from China awaits Kagay-anons

A CHINESE university is offering Kagay-anons a two-year scholarship for a masters degree program in business administration, international business, tourism management, and physical education.

Eileen San Juan, head of the Local Economic and Investment Promotion Office, said Fujian Normal University in China is offering 50 scholarship slots for applicants all over the country, including Cagayan de Oro.

The scholarship will cover tuition, accommodation, a P15,000 monthly allowance, and insurance benefits within the length of the academic year from the support of the Chinese Government.

The scholar however will have to shoulder his or her own travel expenses to China.

Deadline for application will be on December 15 and classes will begin on February 24, 2020.

Applicants must have finished a bachelor's degree, should be a Filipino citizen who is under 35 years old and holds a valid passport.

He or she must also be in good physical condition and should abide by the university regulations including laws promulgated by the People's Republic of China.

Applicants should also have the commitment to finish the 2-year program. If a student drops out, he or she will be required to pay all the scholarships already granted to the scholar.

Knowledge of the Mandarin language for the applicants is not a requirement. A Mandarin course will be included in the curriculum.

Ma. Dulce Potenciano, focal person of the city government's education program meanwhile said that they have set their own deadline on December 9 to give the Local School Board ample time to review the applications.

The applications will be coursed through the Local School Board before submitting it to the university.

"This is a great news that this has been offered to our locality. We encourage our students to join this opportunity and be a part of the progress of education," Simon Ching said, the Misamis Oriental Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
