A MAGNITUDE 6.5 earthquake that struck near Tulunan, Cotabato anew Thursday morning, October 31, was again felt in Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental, but no damage and casualty were reported.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), instrumental intensity 3 was recorded in the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Gingoog.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin, was initially reported at 33 kilometers northeast of Tulunan and at a depth of two kilometers.
Phivolcs revised these to 28 kilometers and further to 27 kilometers northeast of Tulunan. The depth was also revised to six kilometers and further to eight kilometers.
A call center agent fainted after the tremor. No other casualties were reported. No damage to structures were also noted in Misamis Oriental.
But a hotel in Kidapawan City, which was certified as "structurally safe" by a structural engineer following the October 16 quake, nearly collapsed while a mid-rise condominium in Davao City was also heavily affected by the October 31 quake. (Jo Ann Sablad)
