All Saints' Day peaceful in Metro Manila, police say

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) said no untoward incidents were reported during the observance of All Saints' Day Friday, November 1, across the country.

“As of 12 noon, (the) peace and order situation nationwide remains normal with no untoward incident reported,” PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Bernard Banac said.

Banac said they expect more people to flock to the cemeteries on Saturday, November 2.

For his part, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) acting chief Brigadier General Debold Sinas said no major crimes have been reported since last night.

He assured that NCRPO forces are operationally ready and posted in places of convergence for the weekend.

He said the situation in Metro Manila is peaceful as compared to the previous observance of Undas.

“We are prepared for Undas. We are very happy everything is in order and all our personnel deployed in the area so again we appeal to the public to maintain good atmosphere of Undas 2019,” he said.

“We expect na highest na bisita is today (Saturday). I talked to district director of MPD (Manila Police District) they expect the volume to increase sa North and South cemetery. So far everything is in order. No untoward incidents in the bus terminals from district director of the QCPD smooth ang biyahe wala namang na–delay, wala namang na aberya, wala namang report na incidents,” he added.

He thanked the public for their vigilance and cooperation, which he said have been “part and parcel of this year's safe and sound observance.”
