Rosales suffers KO in Round 1

JESSIE Cris Rosales’ woes in the US continue after suffering his third straight defeat.

The 27-year-old Rosales was knocked out by Xavier Martinez in just 21 seconds of the opening round in the scheduled 10-round main event on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019 (PHL time), at the Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Martinez caught and knocked Rosales out with a left-right combination.

Rosales was safe after being checked out by the doctors.

“He’s okay,” said Rosales’ wife Cheryl, who was worried about her husband after the knockout. “He’s okay physically but he’s so sad because he felt that could have done more.”

Rosales was motivated for this fight because he dedicated it to his sick father.

Rosales suffered his third straight defeat in the US and dropped to 22-4-1 with 10 knockouts, while Martinez remains undefeated with 15-0 with 11 knockouts.

The two other Filipino fighters in the event, Elias Joaquino and Recky Dulay, also got stopped in their respective fights.

Dylan Price (10-0, 7 KOs) dropped Joaquino (12-5-2, 6 KOs) once each in the third and fourth round and stopped him in the 1:48 mark of the sixth.

Meanwhile, Cris Reyes (9-0, 8 KOs) stopped Recky Dulay (11-7, 8 KOs) in the fourth.

Reyes knocked Dulay to the floor with a body shot that forced referee Tony Weeks to wave the bout off in the 1:55 mark. EKA
