Fire hits Barangay San Roque, Cebu City

(UPDATED) -- AT LEAST 80 houses and a three-story building were razed when a mid-afternoon blaze broke out in Sitio Panting, Barangay San Roque, Cebu City on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019.

Based on initial reports, an estimated P800,000 worth of properties were destroyed, displacing around 600 families.

Personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection Cebu City immediately responded after receiving the alarm at 2:59 p.m.

Upon reaching the area, firefighters raised the fire to second alarm at 3:05 p.m. and declared the blaze under Task Force Alpha at 4:04 p.m.

Task Force Alpha means all neighboring fire units in Metro Cebu are called upon to assist the local fire department in putting out the fire.

The fire was placed under control at 6:20 p.m.

Investigators are still determining what caused the blaze.

The fire reportedly started in the house of Danabebs Portugal.

Last Friday night, Nov. 1, on All Saints’ Day, 38 families, or roughly 200 individuals, had to be evacuated when fire struck Barangay Basak-San Nicolas, Cebu City and destroyed over P160,000 worth of properties. (JGS)



The fire department declared the blaze under control at 6:20 p.m.
