A BOUNTIFUL time to get together with family and friends: The Canadian Thanksgiving grand dinner at Rica’s Café of Henry Hotel Cebu was held in celebration of the good harvest of the past year.

Marking this yearly cultural celebration by giving thanks for abundance—with room for laughter and humor—were speeches made by second secretary and vice consul Francois Shank, president of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Julian Payne, as well as honorary Canadian consul Katherine Goshulak-Rivera.

Celebrating a fruitful harvest, guests feasted on a delectable spread of Thanksgiving staples featuring an array of various autumn vegetables, fresh green salad, baked herb crusted salmon, pecan/apple pie and a whole lot of turkey and roast lamb set at the dinner table. Beautifully laid out in autumn colors, tables were decorated with maple leaves, harvest squash and a delightful arrangement of flowers and candles as centerpieces—all in celebration of all things Canadian!

“A day of general thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed.” Happy Thanksgiving, Canada!

A reminder of the Prayer of Thanksgiving led by Roy Rivera: “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before His presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations.”
