RYAN Garcia made quick work of Romero Duno after stopping him in just a single round of their World Boxing Organization (WBO) NABO and World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver Youth lightweight title fight on Nov. 3, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 21-year-old Garcia landed a solid right straight to the temple followed by a left hook that landed near the back of the head that dropped Duno.

The 24-year-old Duno attempted to stand up but was too dazed, which forced referee Tony Weeks to stop it at the 1:38 mark of the opening round.

Duno saw his 12-fight winning streak end and dropped to 21-2 with 16 knockouts, while Garcia still remains as Golden Boy Promotions’ top prospect and improved to 19-0 with 16 knockouts.

The fight was a disappointing end for Duno, who has been chasing Garcia for a fight.

Duno had an opportunity to fight Garcia back in September after the latter’s opponent, Anthony Sparrow, was forced to pull out after being apprehended by authorities.

Duno was willing to step up and fight Garcia but the latter decided not to accept the fight.

Duno is the fourth Filipino to lose in the US over the weekend after Jessie Cris Rosales, Elias Joaquino and Recky Dulay all suffered knockout defeats on Nov. 2 also in Las Vegas. (EKA)
