SEA Games preparations now at 90 percent

THE preparation to the hosting of the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games on November 30 to December 11 is at 90 percent.

This was according to Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) chief operating officer Ramon Suzara when asked to grade the status of preparations of the organizing committee.

“We are almost there. In a scale of one to 10, we are at nine,” Suzara said during a recent press conference for the third and final chef de mission (CDM) meeting of the biennial games.

Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, who is the presiding chairman of Phisgoc, was also present along with Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman and Team Philippines CDM William Ramirez, presidential adviser on Flagship Programs and Projects and Bases Conversion Development Authority president Vivencio Dizon.

Cayetano thanked Ramirez for all the help the sports agency has been giving the organizing committee citing that “it is not easy since chairman is juggling three tasks the same time.”

At least seven out of 11 CDMs were present during the press briefing with the other four represented by their deputies.

Phisgoc also welcomed new sponsors for the games including Phoenix Petroleum and Family Mart under the UDenna Corporation, North Luzon Expressway Corporation, Philippine National Bank, Bombo Radyo, Filinvest City Alabang, Chinabank and Ibarra Watches for Cronometradores Filipinas, Inc.

Cayetano underscored the importance of proper investing and citing how partnering with the Phisgoc serves as its partners’ investment not only as a business move but more so on the growth of the Filipino people.

“You are actually investing on our people,” Cayetano told sponsors.
