Anduyan to cops: Avoid taking out loans

THE newly-installed director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in Northern Mindanao has urged police personnel in the region to avoid taking out loans.

PRO-Northern Mindanao Regional Director Rolando Anduyan said financial problems can affect police performance.

"Hindi nila magagawa lahat ng basic functions ng police kung sila ay may problema sa kwarta. Ang himuon ana mangutong na siya diha," Anduyan said.

Anduyan assumed his post on Thursday, October 31, before PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa.

He replaced Brigadier Gen. Rafael Santiago who was suspended due to his alleged failure to turn over logistics, including firearms, when he left his post as director of the Zambales police in 2012.

Following his assumption, Anduyan ordered the creation of an oversight committee to measure the performance of every police personnel across the region.

Anduyan directed all police personnel to prioritize the need of the community rather than oneself.

"Ayaw ko makita na ang atong mga sakyanan inyong ginagamit sa lain nga focus, tanan sakyanan gamiton para sa trabaho, walay personal," he said.

Internal cleansing meanwhile should start in police recruitment, Anduyan said.

Anduyan said PRO-Northern Mindanao shall develop a scheme to accept only qualified applicants, and eradicate the “palakasan” system.

"Kadtong mga applicants kinahanglan madawat na walay palakasay, walay igsoon, walay paryente, we will remove human intervention," he said.

Anduyan said the same shall be applied when a family member of a police officer violates the law.

"Walay igsoon, walay paryente, tanan pareha, kung makahimo against the law, walay dapig-dapig, atong iimplement ang balaod," he added.

Erstwhile National Capital Region Police Office – Northern Police District chief Anduyan is a Marawi siege veteran, having served as Chief Superintendent of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Anduyan is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Bigkis Lahi” Class of 1990. He is a native of Iligan City.
