Capitol to hold 3-day Suroy-Suroy Sugbo

THE Southern Heritage Trail of Suroy-Suroy Sugbo, the Cebu Provincial Government’s tourism program, will start in Minglanilla town on Nov. 15-17, 2019.

Minglanilla, dubbed as “Sugat Capital of the South,” will be the first local government unit (LGU) to showcase its culture and delicacies to the more than 300 local and foreign tourists, who booked themselves to participate in the three-day activity.

The town holds its Sugat-Kabanhawan Festival every Easter Sunday. In Cebuano, sugat means meeting, while kabanhawan means resurrection.

An itinerary posted on the official Facebook page of Suroy-Suroy Sugbo last Oct. 31 shows that participants will depart from the Capitol compound at 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 15, and they will head straight to Anjo World Theme Park in Barangay Calajoan, Minglanilla.

The participants will then proceed to San Fernando where they will be entertained with a cultural presentation at the town’sRizal Park.

The lunch, accompanied with a cultural presentation, will be served at Sibonga’s heritage park.

After a short siesta on the bus, participants will head to Cabecera Cafe in Argao before proceeding to Dalaguete town’s heritage park and Alcoy’s church plaza.

A cultural presentation at the world-famous Boljoon church will cap off the activities for the first day.

More delicacies and cultural shows will be showcased on the second day by the towns of Oslob, Santander, Samboan, Ginatilan, Malabuyoc, Alegria, Badian and Moalboal.

The towns of Alcantara, Ronda, Dumanjug and Barili, and the cities of Carcar, Naga and Talisay will highlight the third and final day of the activity.

An LGU is given an hour to showcase its products and culture to the participants.

In his State of the City Address last Oct. 8, Talisay City Mayor Gerard Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. said having the city as the last destination of the southern trail would be a good opportunity to showcase what it have.

The tour’s high-end package rate is pegged at P17,000. It covers meals, transportation, accommodation and tourist kits for the entire activity.

Other Suroy-Suroy Sugbo trails such as the Northern Escapade, Enchanting Camotes, Explore Midwest and Urban Adventure will follow in 2020. (RTF)
