2 soldiers wounded in Samar clash

AT LEAST two soldiers were wounded in a clash with suspected members of a communist terrorist group in Calbiga, Samar Sunday, November 3.

Elements from 46 Infantry Battalion, led by Sergeant Baltazar Baccol, encountered about 10 suspected rebels in Barangay Antol in Calbiga town around 8:29 a.m. Sunday.

The firefight lasted for about 40 minutes. The suspected rebels then retreated towards south, according to the Army.

Wounded were Corporal Abenido Liganad and Private First Class Jimber Gravela.

The Army could not determine how many were injured or killed on the enemy side. (SunStar Philippines)
