Raps filed vs 42 activists in Bacolod

THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Western Visayas filed Monday, November 4, charges of human trafficking and illegal possession of firearms and explosives against 42 activists who were arrested in a raid in Bacolod City last week.

Army Brigadier General Benedict Arevalo said the inquest proceeding was held at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) led by fiscal Fernand Castro for security reasons.

Charged were Albert "Ambet" Dela Cerna, John "Butch" Milton Lozande, Noly "Talisa" Lacera Rosales, Proceso "Pros" Quiatzon, Mario Estrobo Aguelan Jr., Richard L. Sajo, Richre Paparon Remada, Geovanie Pollentes Morad, Mark Anthony Tagaytayan Olaera, Ernie Rebias Escoltor, Joey Plaza Micmic, Jessie Ryan Hecita Doza, Charlie Alintoson Lozada, Ernesto Judiadan Dodoyco Jr., Randy Domadiego Agbones, Junelle Jusal Miraflor, Gerry Magbanua Lacson, Marlito Apunan Escaner, Eddie Fernandez Ibon, Joedelmar Anfory Tano, Jecards Austero Jamero, Jemar Rojo Santellan, Ashly Mark Sanong Antes, Jefherdy Gewon, Alipoton, Richard Mag-aso Escada, Rolando Bilches Delos Reyes, John Carlo Larbo Capanas, Glanie Guimbal Hambre, Mario Ayo Tambiga, Joebert Lozada Belarmino, Ramil Gonzales Ayco, Jefherd Genon Alipoon, Joelito Telebrico Sumaque, Esmael Asplico Lorca Jessie Taasan Badonasa, Cherryl "Cheche" Catalogo, Karina Mae Dela Cerna, Mermalyn Bito-on, Romulo Bito-on, Mary Anne Krueger, Danilo Tabura, and Roberto Lachica.

Arevalo said the suspects committed non-bailable offenses.

Last Thursday, October 31, the operatives, led by the CIDG-Western Visayas, Philippine Army and the Bacolod City Police Office personnel, implemented the search warrants issued by a Regional Trial Court in Quezon City in the offices of Kilusang Mayo Uno, Gabriela, and Anak Pawis in Barangay Bata, and the National Federation of Sugar Workers in Barangay 33.

The operatives also arrested 13 minors who are now under the custody of the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD).

Recovered from the suspects’ possession were 32 assorted firearms, three fragmentation grenade, and assorted live ammunition.

The individuals arrested by the operatives were believed to be members of the so-called legal fronts of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army and are detained at the custodial facility of CIDG-Negros Occidental.
