JUST three months in the making, the new-look Tagoloan Community College (TCC) senior varsity team lorded it over in the San Martin Invitational Basketball Tournament held recently in the neighboring town of Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.
The young TCC team, anchored by 6-foot-8 Senegal citizen Pape Alpha, bagged the championship at the expense of the leading commercial players in Misamis Oriental province.
“It’s a sweet victory. As the athletic director and sports consultant of Tagoloan Community College, it is with great honor to give appreciation and due recognition to the people behind this wonderful success,” said Van Halen Parmis as he acknowledged Tagoloan Mayor Gomer “Enan” Sabio for his undying and ever active support to the team.
“We are also indebted to Dr. Kharen Jane Ungab for allowing us to join the tournament and even managed to spend some time cheering for the team despite the hectic schedule. To Sir Rene Pastrana, the team’s ever athletic father and head coach. A million thanks also to assistant coaches, Maher Eduave and Dave”Idol” Ociones for their dedication, hardwork and patience in guiding our aspiring players in Tagoloan,” Parmis said.
The Tagoloan dribblers’ triumph, Parmis said, was very timely as they welcome the arrival of PBA great Buddy Encarnado and Pasig Pirates coach Bong dela Cruz who graced the TCC Intramurals opening on Tuesday, November 5.
Also comprising the fledgling Tagoloan Community College (TCC) team are Collin Rivera, Kent Dinglasa, Marc Leo Lim, Khenji Abad, John Ryan Panugaling, Daven James Sabio, Joshua Recto, Sandric Bahala, Louis Sevilla, Daniel Ruiz, Arvin Laroza, Mark Louie Perez, Jhon Mark Duran, Andrew Acero, Christian Rey Sabio, team manager Kharen Ungab, head coach Rene Pastrana and assistant coaches Dave Ociones and Maher Eduave.
