Oro to give P2-M cash aid for quake victims

THE Cagayan de Oro City Council on Monday, November 4, approved a P2-million financial assistance to the earthquake victims in Cotabato and Davao Region.

The aid will be sourced from the calamity fund of the city government which is five percent of the city’s total revenue generation this year.

City Councilor Girlie Balaba, chairperson of the committee on social services, said the city council on Monday passed a resolution authorizing Mayor Oscar Moreno to get a portion of the calamity fund to help the quake victims.

Balaba said it will now be up to the mayor if he will give the assistance in cash or in the form of goods and basic commodities.

Also, the city government employees will donate P350,000 worth of financial assistance to the badly-hit areas.

The 3,500 employees will donate P100 each for the victims.
