THE Iloilo Provincial Government was named the country's Best Local Government Unit (LGU) Advocate for Statistics.
The plaque of recognition was given by the Philippine Statistics Authority during the 30th National Statistics Month celebration on October 29 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Assembly Hall in Manila.
The province was recognized for its successful conduct of statistical advocacy activities from January to December 2018.
The entry document involved all the statistical activities of the province led by the Provincial Population Office (PPO) and the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO).
PPO chief Ramon Yee recognized the contribution of all Capitol offices in the award.
The plaque was presented to Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. during the regular flag ceremony on Monday, November 4.
Defensor said numbers are essential in the performance of a daily work.
"Our work starts with statistics. This is to remind us all that in our work, we should be mindful of numbers," he said.
