14 nabbed for illegal gambling in Buguias

AMID the All Soul’s Day commemoration, police operatives were relentless in their anti–illegal gambling operations arresting 14 gamblers including a minor at Lito Bucanog Building in Sitio Mansoyosoy, Catlubong, Buguias, Benguet on November 2.

The arrested individuals were playing card game called monti while a firearm, ammunitions and assorted drug paraphernalia were confiscated in another operation.

Arrested were identified as Raul Vicente Nagayos, 41; Marcelo Colinio Bay-an, 35; Randy Damilo Alvares, 30; all farmers and residents of Bot-oan, Buguias, Benguet; Atolba Tostos, 54; Manday Saadang Bawas, 39; Rolian Alipio Palangyos, 20; Melchor Dulagan Piligman, 21; Junilson Nginsayan Ulban, 24; Estado Lubiki Carino, 30; Jemer Alicnas Polasen, 31; Rey Domingo Lingbanan, 22; Andrew Camti Labosnog, 44; Iyson Tiblac Bayas, 21, student; and a 16 year old lad; all residents of Catlobong, Buguias, Benguet.

During the operation, confiscated evidence were P24,740 bet and two sets of playing cards.

In Kalinga, tracker teams from Tabuk City Police Station (KCPS) and Provincial Intelligence Bureau (PIB) of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office (KPPO) confiscated a firearm, ammunitions and drug paraphernalia after serving the search warrant for violation of RA 9165, otherwise known as Comprehensive Drugs Act against aka Shelo in his residence in Sitio Matocnang, Ipil, Tabuk City in the afternoon of November 2.

During search, the suspect was not around, however, illegal items such as one homemade shotgun, five ammos for 12-gauge shotgun, one medium-sized transparent plastic sachet containing suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and assorted drug paraphernalia were confiscated.

All apprehended individuals and seized items are in the custody of the concerned operating units while the minor was turned-over to the Local Social Welfare and Development. Appropriate charges were also filed against the suspects who immediately posted bail for their temporary liberty.

Police Brigadier General Israel Ephraim Dickson, Police Regional Office – Cordillera director said in a bid to end offshore gambling in the region, police warned the public on illegal activities, urging all chiefs of police to take more concrete and effective measures to prevent any illegal activities in the region especially gambling and drugs.
