Bacolod to recommend 8 more villages to be declared ‘drug cleared’

THE City Government of Bacolod will recommend eight more villages to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Western Visayas to be declared “drug cleared” villages in the city.

Executive Assistant Samuel Montoyo, focal person of City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac), said Tuesday, November 5, the sub-oversight committee of Cadac will hold a meeting Wednesday, November 6, at the Bacolod Government Center to discuss the lists of the barangays that were recommended to be declared “drug cleared” villages.

These are villages 11, 20, 25, 32, 38, 41, Montevista, and Mandalagan.

The meeting will be attended by the City Mayor’s Office, Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), City Health Office (CHO), PDEA, and the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).

Montoyo said in September, they also submitted the lists of the eight barangays to be declared ‘drug cleared’ barangays, but only two barangays have been declared “drug cleared”.

At present, Bacolod City has a total of seven drug cleared villages. These are villages 5, 15, 17, 18, 24, 33, and 37.

Once they submitted the list, Montoyo said PDEA will conduct a validation in said eight villages.

“We are thankful for the cooperation of the barangay (villages) officials and its constituents. Hopefully, they could comply all the requirements to be declared as ‘drug cleared’ barangays in the city,” he said. (MAP)
