Truck-traveling vendors banned

ANGELES City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. has ordered a ban on truck-traveling vendors who sell goods at a cheaper price at the Pampang Public Market.

"Ipinagbabawal ko na po ang mga byahero na galing sa ibang lugar na dumarating dito na naka truck at nagbabagsak ng presyo ng manok, gulay at prutas (I am banning truck-traveling vendors who come here and sell cheap chicken, vegetables and fruits)," he said.

According to Lazatin, this affects the situation and livelihood of Pampang vendors.

"This is for the protection of our vendors in Pampang, sila ang naaapektuhan (they are the ones affected)," he added.

"These travelers do not pay taxes in the City, which is unfair to those vendors who truly work for the people, and obey the policies here," he added.

The mayor also reiterated he will not tolerate this, especially the daily income of Pampang vendors is at stake.

"Naninira pa sila ng hanapbuhay ng aking mga kababayan sa Pampang vendors (They destroy the livelihood of our Pampang vendors)," he said.

According to Lazatin, as one of his campaign promises, he will continue to work for the betterment of the Pampang Public Market.

He said a total of P20 million each has been allotted for the repair and improvement of Pampang this year and in 2020.

"Ngayon pong taon na ito, mayroon pong pondong P20 million para sa repair and improvement po ng ating Pampang market. At another P20 million pa po ang naka allocate sa 2020 budget (This year, we have a P20 million fund for the repair and improvement of Pampang market. Another P20 million is allocated in the 2020 budget)," he added.

The mayor said he is confident that for the coming months, his constituents' complaints will be responded accordingly, as well as the restoration of the Pampang market's office, additional construction of restrooms, and purchase of a dump truck for the market.

He thanked the dedication and hard work of employees for helping fix the market.

"Ito po ay dahil sa kasipagan ng ating mga empleyado. Bagong pintura na po ang ating mga gutter, umayos na po ang ating parking lot, luminis na rin po ang ating drainage (This is because of our industrious employees. The gutters are newly painted, the parking lot is in order, and our drainage is clean)," he said.

According to him, there is no letup in the city's efforts to clean up the market and the whole city. (PR)
