CEBU’S unique All-Women Ultramarathon will hold its 10th edition on March 7 and 8, 2020 at the Il Corso Mall at the South Road Properties.

Dr. Humilita Melgar-Igaña, one of the organizers, said the event is their way of celebrating International Women’s Day and they are expecting 350 runners to join. A few foreign nationals will also be signing up.

Awum will also be teaming up with Cebu City Councilor Joel Garganera, who is himself an avid runner, in preparing for the route that will take the runners from Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu City and parts of Consolacion.

Awum will open its registration on Nov. 15 via its Facebook page and Ledoy Mendoza expect all slots to be signed up in just minutes. Last year, almost 700 signed up in the first three minutes alone and the organizers had to trim it to 350.

Garganera said they can’t increase the number of participants despite the high demand because it will affect the quality of the race.

As per tradition of the race, there will be numerous water stations spread all over the route that will be manned by volunteers. Each station doesn’t only offer water but serves as a mobile pampering station for the women, complete with a retouch of their makeup. (PAC of SuperBalita Cebu)
