THE Provincial Government of Zamboanga Sibugay distributed Wednesday, November 6, relief goods to the earthquake victims in Makilala, North Cotabato.

The distribution of the relief goods, spearheaded by Zamboanga Sibugay Governor Wilter Yap Palma, was held in coordination with the Municipal Government of Makilala.

Palma, accompanied by other officials of Zamboanga Sibugay, motored to Makilala, North Cotabato, early Wednesday bringing along some 3,500 food packs loaded on eight trucks.

Each food pack contains 10 kilos rice, canned goods, noodles, bottled water, and medicines.

The group of Palma was able to distribute 2,300 food packs to the victims while the remaining 1,200 will be distributed by the Makilala Municipal Government.

Palma said the physicians, who accompanied the relief mission, have also provided vitamins to the children of families displaced by the tremors.

Palma, in partnership with other concerned stakeholders, initiated on Tuesday relief operation, dubbed as “Tabang sa Cotabato.”

He said the more than 700 provincial government employees have also contributed “in whatever way they can” to help the victims, adding that they were able to raise some 35 tons of rice, which were repacked into 3,500 food packs or at 10 kilos rice each pack.

Fifteen of the 35 tons of rice were donated by the association of cooperatives in Zamboanga Sibugay, he added.

Makilala is one of the four areas in North Cotabato hardest-hit by the tremors; the other three areas are Kidapawan City, and the towns of Tulunan and M’lang. (SunStar Zamboanga)
