Maccii to join government's recyclable waste collection

ANGELES CITY -- The Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (Macci) has committed to join the 23rd Recyclables Collection Event (RCE) of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) as part of its campaign for clean air.

Maccii will conduct the waste collection at 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. of November 27 at Hilda Extension, Nepo Center.

The business chamber has set the event in collaboration with the Environmental Practitioners Association (EPA), Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau in Central Luzon (DENR-EMB 3), Angeles City Government, and Clark Development Corporation (CDC).

The event, also known as the Collection and Disposal of Selected Hazardous Waste, aims to raise people's awareness about the importance of recycling to address the country's waste problem.

Maccii envisions to inform various business establishments in the city on proper hazardous waste management.

The environment program is in accordance with Republic Act 8749, otherwise known as the Philippine Clean Air Act.

RCE is a series of collection and buying of events for recyclable materials. It was designed to promote recycling and waste segregation.

Waste that can be redeemed for cash at the RCEs include used papers and cartons, junked electronic items, used batteries, used polyethylene terephthalate or PET bottles and other plastics, aluminum cans, scrapped glass, used printer ink and toner cartridges, and used tires.
