FILIPINOS are known to be generous and resilient. It is in our blood that whatever calamities happen, we always withstand and recover even though faced with a very difficult situation. The earthquake happened in Mindanao specifically in Cotabato and nearby areas brought resiliency among Filipinos. Many establishments like building, schools and even hospitals were heavily damaged affecting the lives and livelihood of the people living nearby.

It’s very heartwarming to hear that there are still people who are willing to help in their own little ways. Upon hearing that there will be donations coming from Luzon and Visayas and as a person who values gratitude I for once never hesitated to help. I volunteered myself and went to Task Force Davao to repack some of the goods and other necessities received by the City Government of Davao to be transported to the affected families. I was happy to see a lot of individuals from private organizations and government agencies who are willing to commit their time and effort in facilitating the repack of goods.

It’s never too late to help. Remember that even the smallest act of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s world.

Upon knowing that the thousands of people from Cotabato and other neighboring areas are in need of food, beddings, tents, and other items, different private organizations started a donation drive opening the doors of their offices as drop-off points for donations. These include The Mother’s Club, Fuse up UP Mindanao, JCI, Ateneo de Davao University, San Pedro College, Joji Ilagan Bian School Foundation, Malayan Colleges, Mindanao, Abreeza Ayala Malls, and SM Supermalls among many others.
