Biggest loser up for Benguet employees

AT LEAST 56 employees of Benguet Province answered the call to lose weight.

Dean Mark Monang, Benguet sports development officer, and Abner Diclas, co-organizer of the contest, introduced the “Benguet Provincial Government Biggest Loser Employee Challenge” coinciding with the 2019 Benguet Adivay.

The competition is open to all Benguet government employees regardless of appointment status and must be employed on or before the initial weigh–in.

Monang said it was found during the annual medical results of employees, some have had high cholesterol and fatty liver, adding the event seeks employees to attain less weight and healthier body fitting this year’s Adivay themed “Healthier Benguet”.

On November 5, a weigh in was conducted to 40 female and 16 male participants.

Monang added prior to the weigh–in, participants signified to join not to win but with the goal to lose weight.

The challenge is divided to two categories, 65 kilograms (kgs) and 65 kgs and above for females and 80 kgs below and 80 kgs and above for males.

The final weigh will be on December 18 at 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Provincial Capitol Lobby.

There are estimated 1,300 employees in the province comprise of casual, elected officials and contractual.

Prices include t-shirts, trophies and medals and cash prizes for the top three in each category for both male and female.

Meanwhile, a volleyball and basketball tournament are also conducted in the provincial gym as a form of physical exercises for employees after office hours.
