Tabal to SKIP ceremonial torch relay

A CEREMONIAL torch relay for the country’s hosting in the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games will be held in Cebu on Nov. 16, 2019, at the SM City Seaside in South Road Properties.

The event kicked off in Davao City on Oct. 30 as the SEA Games committee conducts a torch relay in selected areas prior to the start of the Manila SEA Games on Nov. 30.

According to Sandra Dy, the head for the torch relay of the 30th SEA Games, there will be 10 torchbearers who will be joined by 2,500 runners.

The torch will be passed until it reaches the last torchbearer.

Cebuana marathoner Mary Joy Tabal had been tapped to be the last torchbearer.

But the 2017 SEA Games gold medalist can’t attend the event as she’s still in Japan and on the final week of her training. RSC
