SM City Cebu lights gigantic Christmas tree to mark holiday season

SM CITY Cebu launched the holiday season with the lighting of its gigantic Christmas Tree at The Northwing atrium.

Promising a more memorable holiday, SM City Cebu’s theme for this year is “World of Santa.” Life-sized Santa Clauses are on display beside the Christmas Tree, plus glittery and colorful Christmas icons adorned all over the mall.

The “World of Santa” in SM City Cebu invites everyone to celebrate the Christmas season with loved ones through its fun-filled, dazzling displays, exciting deals and other big surprises that will definitely delight shoppers of all ages.

Making the celebration more meaningful was the presence of the children under the care of Kythe Foundation Inc., an organization aimed toward improving the quality of life among hospitalized children with cancer and other chronic illnesses. The children received Miniso and Toy Kingdom gift items from SM City Cebu management, led by SM Prime Holdings vice president Marissa Fernan.

“Christmas is truly the brightest and happiest time of the year. From dining to gift shopping, or enjoying fun experiences—for 61 years, SM has witnessed every Filipino family’s milestones and celebrations,” said marketing officer Jenny Ruiz.

Cebu’s very own Boystown Handbell Ringers from the Sisters of Mary School Boystown also performed its unique music to the delight of the audience. The group uses handbells, rung by grasping it by the handle and moving the wrist, causing the clapper inside (which is on a hinge) to strike the outside of the bell, producing the sound.

SM City Cebu is once again inviting its shoppers to buy two “SM Bears of Joy” at P200—one bear to keep, while the other will be donated to the mall’s chosen charity.

The 30-foot Christmas Tree will be on display at The Northwing atrium until Jan. 5, 2020. (PR)
