USLS donates P2M to Nopsscea

JUST like being part of giving birth to a baby is the responsibility of guiding him and providing support while he grows.

This was the statement Thursday of University of St. La Salle (USLS) president and chancellor Bro. Raymund Suplido during the signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and the turnover of the P1 million initial support to the Negros Occidental Private School Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) at the USLS board room.

Suplido stressed that while USLS was part of the creation of NOPSSCEA, it is partly its accountability to help provide assistance to the association.

While we need quality teachers thus we also need to provide quality facilities, he explained. And the construction of the NOPSSCEA Activity Center is one way of providing the organization of a place it can call its own, he added.

Part of the MOA, is naming the Presidential Hall after Bro. Rafael S. Donato, FSC and the President’s Conference Room to Bro. Rolando Dizon, FSC.

Meanwhile, R.R. Msgr. Noly A. Que, LBMS replied with gratitude for the P2-million assistance from USLS which he said will be used in the development of NOPSSCEA.

As part of the NOPSSCEA expansion and development program under Msgr. Que, the Provincial Government has granted them a deed of usufruct for a 2,000-square-meter lot at the Panaad Park.

NOPSSCEA was founded by the late Br. Donato in 1980 through the merging of two sports organizations, Negros Occidental Private Schools Athletic Association (Noprisaa) and the Negros Occidental Athletic Association (Nocaa).

The primary purpose of the merger was to combine all sports associations of private schools in the province. But it didn’t stop there after NOPSSCEA felt the need to diversify a more holistic approach in its programs including educational and cultural activities. It inculcated the tradition of going beyond its league, for service and for the good of all.

Among those who witnessed the MOA signing were Rhoderick Samonte (Dir. External Relation), Gloria Fuentes (Assistant Vice Chancellor), Geoffrey Bob Bergante (Vice Chancellor-Admin), Dr. Angelina Guinanao (Chair, Outreach Prog.), Ma. Del Pilar Limas (USLS-IS Principal), Roberto Juan Llantada II (Executive Assistant to the President) Jocelyn Aragon (Vice Chancellor-Finance), Fely Porter (Executive Secretary) and Dr. Rosario de Guzman (Chair, Education Task Force).
