THE Department of Tourism (DOT) in Western Visayas, in collaboration with the Negros Occidental Tourism Division, has conducted the Barrier-free Tourism Seminar for tourism frontline service providers in the province.
Provincial supervising tourism operations officer Cristine Mansinares, who spoke at the seminar in Bacolod City Thursday, November 7, said the activity is part of the Tourism Industry Skills Program (TISP).
Mansinares said the program aims to encourage inclusivity and accessibility for persons with disabilities (PWDs).
“The discussions focused on upgrading the skills of our frontliners and partners in the tourism industry by eliminating barriers that would also promote good business,” she added.
Forty-two participants composed of local government units (LGUs) and DOT-accredited establishments have completed the training-workshop.
The resource persons included National Council on Disability Affairs Information, Education and Communication Division chief Rizalino Sanchez, NCDA Disability Equality Training Facilitator Eunice Marie Factor, Sarah Alcachupas from the Bacolod City Special Education Center, and Rhea Lizada from Bacolod National High School.
