Frasco elected LMP vice prexy for Visayas

STRENGTHEN economic growth and good governance in towns were among the programs Liloan, Cebu Mayor Christina Garcia-Frasco will pursue as newly elected League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) national vice president for Visayas.

Frasco, who is also LMP Cebu Chapter president, was elected national vice president for the Visayas during the National Directorate Elections held in Makati City on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019.

Frasco, the daughter of Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, was nominated by incoming LMP national president Narvacan, Ilocos Sur Mayor Luis “Chavit” Singson.

Like Singson, no one stood up to challenge Frasco’s candidacy.

A staunch supporter of local autonomy, Frasco said she is grateful for the opportunity to join the LMP leadership in advocating for the empowerment of local government units on a national level.

“Strengthening the economic and governance positions of our municipalities will ultimately redound to the benefit of our constituents. I look forward to bringing the voice and aspirations of the Visayas to the forefront of national development,” she added.

Frasco was elected first woman president of the LMP local chapter on July 12, 2019.

She is on her second term as local chief executive of Liloan, which was recently awarded Top Model Municipality in the Philippines by the Manila Times and Most Resilient Municipality in the Philippines by the Department of Trade and Industry.
