Study Hub: Conducive place for students, yuppies

SILENCE is what every person needs when they read, study or do their office work.

However, nowadays, a quiet area is not enough of a requirement for college and graduate students, young professionals and businessmen. What they need, apart from peace, is a place with aircon, plugs, and most importantly WiFi for internet connection and coffee to keep them going.

All of these and more can be found in the newly established co-working place in Cagayan de Oro City: Study Hub and Co-Working Space by Jazlan.

Owned by Lady Jonaida Gandamra Lucman, Study Hub is a two-story study lounge and co-working space, which is located along San Agustin Street, Cagayan de Oro City, that caters to students, professionals and business start-ups.

Currently in its soft opening, Study Hub can accommodate 50 to 70 people. It has tables and cubicles with plugs and USB ports attached for the clients who need to charge their laptops, phones, and other gadgets.

It also has an outdoor area for people who prefer to chat while working so as to not cause disturbance to the other clients who want peace and quiet.

A double-deck bed can also be found upstairs for those who want a quick nap after hours of working or studying; and a shower area for those who need a quick wash and freshen up. Study Hub also caters to the spiritual needs of their Muslim patrons by providing an ablution area, where they can wash before reading their prayers.

School and office supplies can also be bought in case the customers were out of pen, paper or highlighter to use.

Lucman, who was born in Marawi and stayed for 15 years in the Muslim-majority country, Qatar, said Study Hub also has a prayer area in the second floor.

Snacks, like fries and “pika-pika” food, and beverages such as coffee, tea, ad soft drinks are available to customers who want something to fill their gut or to nibble. And since Study Hub is open from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., meals can also be ordered. The have Beef Randang for P95, Corned Beef for P85, and Tuna for P75, all of which are with inclusive of a cup of rice, sunny side up egg and iced tea.

"Mapapansin nyo parang na-cater namin lahat," Lucman said.

According to Lucman, Study Hub's hourly rate costs P50 (with free WiFi, charging and desk use). They also have a 4-hour promo of P150 (with a free cup of coffee), a monthly promo worth P2,900 (one month use of desks, WiFi, charging, shower and up to three cups of coffee; and you can come and go as you please), and whole day pass worth P300 (with up to three cups of coffee, all day use of WiFi, charging, and shower; and you can come and go as you please).

A quiet and peaceful place with fast internet connection, delicious food, quality service and a conducive for meetings and studies, Study Hub is a highly recommended place for students and professionals, especially the freelancers who only need WiFi and electricity outlet.
