HAU hosts 5th Philippine Quality Award forum

HUNDREDS of stakeholders and key players from various sectors gathered for the 5th Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Forum hosted by Holy Angel University (HAU) in Angeles City.

In her message, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) regional director Judith Angeles said the forum aims to provide opportunity for organizations to learn about the techniques and tools used by business leaders in evaluating and focusing their efforts on performance results, leadership effectiveness, customer and employee satisfaction, and process management.

“It is a benchmark for other local organizations through sharing of information on how PQA recipient organizations were able to change their cultures and achieve organizational improvement and excellence,” Angeles said.

For his part, PQA Foundation, Inc. President Ruy Moreno discussed the PQA objectives and framework, which he described as a “catalyst for change.”

“The primary objective of PQA is to change the culture to achieve organizational and personal improvement on the part of the people who are involved in the program,” Moreno said.

He added PQA serves as a template for competitiveness based on principles of total quality management and continuous quality improvement, stressing on the factors it uses including leadership, strategy, customers, knowledge management, workforce, and operations.

One of the highlights of the forum is the sharing of best practices of Higher Education Institutions that received the PQA recognitions in the 2015-2017 assessment cycles.

This event is organized by the Competitiveness Bureau in partnership with the Philippine Quality Award Foundation, HAU and DTI Region III. (PIA Central Luzon)
